About Lights Out SB

Lights Out Santa Barbara was a city and county-wide energy conservation event on October 20, 2007. We invited the entire city and county of Santa Barbara to turn off all non-essential lighting for one hour and to consider switching to compact flourescent light bulbs.

Why Get Involved?
Our country's growing appetite for energy must be controlled to protect our planet from the effects of the climate crisis.

We estimate that turning lights out in Santa Barbara for even one hour could save a measurable amount of the energy Santa Barbarans consume on an average Saturday night.
